Juno Beach Homes for Sale
Juno Beach was originally “Juno”, a steamboat terminal and beginning of the “Celestial Railway” in the late 1800s. With the development of Palm Beach, Juno faded away. However, the area had caught the eye of local developers. In 1929, the now-famous Seminole Golf Course was planned and built, attracting golfers from all over the country and beyond. The 1940s saw Bessemer Properties develop neighboring land into a subdivision that increased to several in later years, especially after the incorporation of Juno Beach in 1953. Juno Beach Real Estate
Contrary to what some may believe, this community was not named for the World War II landing point, but after the Roman goddess. The Juno Beach Garden Club furthered this theme by naming many of Juno Beach’s streets after other Roman gods and goddesses. Many Juno Beach homes can be found today on thoroughfares such as Venus Drive, Jupiter Lane and Lyra Circle.
Juno Beach homes have enjoyed a significant increase in number and value in the 1980’s, jumping to $400 million assessed value by 1990, from $50 million in 1980. Part of this is due to developments such as the Waterford, an active retirement community which has brought many to explore the possibilities of Juno Beach retirement homes. Florida Power and Light made Juno Beach its home base in 1980 and is a major employer today, under the name of NextEra Energy.
Many people are drawn to Juno Beach homes because of the sunny climate and the many beauties of Central Florida. There are many opportunities to purchase a Juno Beach condo that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, from which one can view marine wildlife. Homes on the Intracoastal Waterway or beachfront also offer nature lovers and boat lovers alike the chance to get closer to Juno Beach’s natural wonders. Pelican Lake is a popular 1 mile walk to and from the Town Center, with waterfowl, picnic facilities and lighting.
Juno Beach is known for the Loggerhead Marine Life Center, a facility dedicated to preserving Florida’s natural environment and specializing in sea turtles. Fishing off of Juno Beach Fishing Pier is a popular pastime for Juno Beach home owners and for those not inclined to rod and tackle, there is an adjoining park with a snack bar, washrooms, outdoor showers and picnic shelters.
